History

Librandi, based at Cirò Marina on the Ionian coast, is the reference producer of Calabria. The family — Antonio Cataldo and Nicodemo Librandi — built it up through the second half of the 20th century into the region's leading quality estate, and led the modern revival of Calabrian wine, above all the Gaglioppo-based Cirò.

The estate is especially known for its work recovering and studying rare Calabrian native grapes — Magliocco, Mantonico, Greco and others — through a dedicated research and vine-collection programme, helping secure the region's viticultural heritage.

Its wines run from the benchmark Cirò Rosso Classico Superiore 'Duca Sanfelice' to the acclaimed 'Gravello' (Gaglioppo/Cabernet, Val di Neto IGT) and the Mantonico-based sweet-to-dry 'Efeso'.
