The estate dates to 1793, when the ocular surgeon Raffaele Castorani became its proprietor.

After a 20th-century decline following division of the vineyards, it lay dormant for years.

In 1999 the Formula 1 driver Jarno Trulli, with Lucio Cavuto, committed to reviving Castorani, now a leading Abruzzo winery.
