History

Cantina di Ortona was founded in 1960 as an agricultural cooperative, with its first vinification in 1961 processing 7,452 quintals of grapes from founding member growers.

Grape deliveries grew through the following decades, peaking at 339,000 quintals in 1983, and the cooperative has remained a fixture of the Ortona wine district, built around Montepulciano d'Abruzzo and other local varieties.
