Also known as Vitouska.

Vitovska is a white wine grape of the Carso (Kras), the limestone plateau above Trieste straddling the Italy-Slovenia border. It is well suited to the karst's thin red soils and fierce bora wind, and has become the emblematic white of the small Carso DOC, championed by natural and skin-contact winemakers.

Vitovska gives dry white wines of pale straw color with a saline, mineral, white-flower and herbal character and fresh acidity; on extended skin contact it takes on more texture, amber color and tannin.
