Trebbiano Verde
Also known as Verdicchio (proposed synonym), Trebbiano di Spoleto (related).
Trebbiano Verde is a white grape grown in Lazio, notably in the Castelli Romani (it is a named grape of the Marino DOC as 'Trebbiano verde', locally equated with Verdicchio) and in neighbouring Umbria. Ampelographers have linked it to Verdicchio and to the Trebbiano di Soave/Spoleto group, and its exact identity has been the subject of study.
It gives fresh whites with green-tinged straw color, good acidity and a characteristic hint of bitter almond, and is used both as a blending grape and, in the Castelli, as a named varietal within the Marino DOC. Several fields sit unconfirmed pending ampelographic clarification.
