Schiava Lombarda

Also known as Schiava, Erbanno, Botascera, Bottascera, Matta, Mergellana, Montorfana, Schiava di Como, Schiava Nera, Schiava locale.

A genuinely distinct MASAF-registered biotype (scheda 224, registered as "Schiava" from the fuller historic name "Schiava lombarda") within the wider Schiava/Vernatsch family, confirmed both by MASAF's own registry and independently by ampelographic sources (quattrocalici.it: "geneticamente distinta dalle Schiave sudtirolesi") to be genetically distinct from the Alto Adige trio of Schiava Gentile/Grigia/Grossa (schede 222/223/289) already profiled in this dataset — a same-family-name trap this rollout treats with the same rigor already applied to the three Malvasia subtypes and the three Groppello biotypes. Historically diffuse in the Comasco under a long list of local names (Botascera, Matta, Mergellana, Montorfana, Schiava di Como) and, more marginally, in the Bergamasco as "Schiava locale." A 2018 ministerial decree (DM 30.05.2018, G.U. 133 dell'11.06.2018) formally recognized "Erbanno N." as an official synonym of this same registered variety.

The sole grape (minimum 85%) of Terre del Colleoni's varietal "Schiava" typology, whose own disciplinare glosses it as "Schiava (da Schiava Nera)" and independently verifies the MASAF scheda-224 identity. Also named for varietal specification in Valcalepio DOC. Canonicized here to the more specific "Schiava Lombarda" (rather than the bare "Schiava," which would ambiguously point to the Alto Adige trio in this dataset's grape-mesh) — consistent with the same disambiguation already applied throughout this rollout to Malvasia/Groppello/Schiava same-name traps.
