Pepella

Pepella is a rare white grape of the Amalfi Coast, grown almost exclusively in the hills of Tramonti behind Maiori. It takes its name from the tiny 'pepe'-like berries scattered through its bunches. It is one of a small group of near-endemic Amalfitan whites that survive on the coast's steep terraces, often on ungrafted, pre-phylloxera vines.

Pepella is used together with Ripoli, Fenile and Ginestra in the Tramonti sub-zone white of the Costa d'Amalfi DOC. Independent varietal data is very scarce, so its measured characteristics are left unrecorded here rather than estimated.
