Nasco

Also known as Nasco di Cagliari.

Nasco is an ancient aromatic white grape of southern Sardinia, one of the island's oldest varieties, traditionally grown around Cagliari and the base of the Nasco di Cagliari DOC. Its name is often linked to the Latin muscus (musk), reflecting its musky perfume.

It gives aromatic whites of musk, orange blossom and dried fruit, historically made sweet or as a fortified (liquoroso) dessert wine, though dry versions are also produced. Yields are low and the wines can develop an oxidative, nutty complexity.
