Moscato di Terracina
Also known as Moscato di Terracina (biotipo del Moscato bianco).
Moscato di Terracina is an aromatic white grape, a local biotype of Moscato bianco (Muscat blanc a petits grains) grown on the calcareous slopes of the Monti Ausoni around Terracina in southern Lazio. It gives the eponymous DOC its identity across dry, off-dry, passito and sparkling styles.
Like other members of the Muscat family it is intensely aromatic, with grapey, floral and citrus notes, and can range from crisp and dry to richly sweet in its passito form. Its cultivation is closely tied to the Terracina/Monte San Biagio/Sonnino area.
