Manzoni Rosa

Also known as Incrocio Manzoni 1.50.

A pink-skinned crossing bred by Prof. Luigi Manzoni at the Conegliano oenological school, from the same 1924-1930 trial period as Manzoni Rosso (Incrocio Manzoni 2.15) — a cross of Trebbiano and Traminer Aromatico (Gewürztraminer), the same parentage behind the white Incrocio Manzoni 2-3 but a distinct individual seedling selection with pink rather than yellow-green skin. Officially admitted to the National Vine Variety Register in 2003.

Small-berried, medium-compact pyramidal clusters give wines with golden straw-yellow reflections, rose and apricot aromatics inherited from its Traminer parent, full-bodied palate weight balanced by fresh acidity, and a characteristic bitter-almond finish. Early-to-mid ripening, fertile and disease-resistant, it appears as a named varietal-specification grape across several of Veneto's minor IGTs.
