Maceratino

Also known as Ribona.

Maceratino is a white Italian wine grape grown almost entirely in the Marche, in the hills of the Macerata province from which it takes its name. It is much better known by its commercial name Ribona, under which it is bottled as a varietal wine, and it is the signature white of the Colli Maceratesi DOC.

It is a niche variety — only a couple of hundred hectares are planted — that has drawn renewed interest as a distinctive local white. In its Colli Maceratesi Ribona form it shows a straw-yellow color with golden reflections, a characteristic, pleasant nose, and a dry, sapid, harmonious palate.
