Grecanico

Also known as Grecanico Dorato, Garganega.

Grecanico, more fully Grecanico Dorato, is a white grape widely grown across Sicily and shown by genetic study to be identical to Garganega, the grape of Soave in the Veneto. In Sicily it is a common component of dry white blends and appears in many of the island's denominations.

It produces fresh, medium-bodied whites with good acidity and aromas of citrus, green apple, white flowers and a light almond note. Reliable and versatile, it is used both to add freshness to blends and as a varietal wine.
