Corbina

Also known as Corbinella.

A native black-skinned Veneto grape, genuinely distinct from the unrelated Corvina Veronese despite the similar name — the two are explicitly disambiguated by MASAF's own registry text for Corvina (scheda 070), which notes it coined the qualifier "veronese" specifically to separate the Verona-province Corvina family from several unrelated, similarly-named grapes elsewhere in Veneto, including this variety. Corbina (also historically "Corbine") is registered on its own as MASAF scheda 406, official synonym "Corbinella," admitted to the register in 2007.

An old variety, widespread across Veneto in the 1800s — 19th-century ampelographer Lampertico cited at least nine related "Corbine" varieties grouped into three families. Today it survives mainly as a named component of the Bagnoli di Sopra/Bagnoli DOC (minimum 85% for the Corbina typology). The wine is intense ruby red, turning garnet with age, with cherry fruit on the nose, marked acidity, and fairly rustic tannins, medium-bodied and overall fine.
