Chatus

A red grape native to the Ardèche in France, with deep black, blue-bloomed berries. Wines are intense and tannic when young, with complex aromas of medlar and overripe fruit, and benefit from aging. The vine prefers high altitudes and siliceous soils. In Piedmont it is grown in the alpine Pinerolese area, where it appears as a monovarietal typology.
