Bonarda
Also known as Bonarda Piemontese, Bonarda di Chieri, Bonarda del Monferrato.
A red grape native to Piedmont, historically grown along the left bank of the Tanaro river near Govone. Distinct from the Argentine Bonarda (Douce Noire) and from the Oltrepò Pavese "Bonarda" (which is actually Croatina) despite the shared name.
Producers have historically blended it into Barbera to add aromatic lift.
